Mark Hughes, P. Eng, is a Professional Engineer as well as the founder and owner of Sintra Engineering. Mark Graduated from the University of Alberta with Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and has been practicing in the field of forensic engineering since 1991. He has co-authored a number of peer reviewed papers and has qualified as a forensic engineer in several different technical areas with over 22 appearances as an expert witness.
Mark has been involved with the GO Community Centre Board of Directors since 2002 and played an integral part in the construction and success of the facility. During the construction of the facility Mark sat as the chair of the construction committee. Since the facility opened in 2011 Mark has continued to be active on many levels with the operation of the GO Community Centre, sitting on many committees and is currently the President of the Board of Directors. Mark also uses the facility for personal enjoyment as he actively plays volleyball on a number of teams.
Mark is active throughout the Edmonton community volunteering his time and talents with a number of other organizations including the Fire Investigation Association of Alberta, the Edmonton Volleyball Association, the Edmonton Volleyball Centre Society, the Edmonton Human Society (EHS), and the Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society (GEARS). Mark is an avid photographer taking on a variety of subject matter including wildlife, landscapes, weddings, and portraits. He has volunteered his photography skills to both EHS and GEARS to help the animals find their forever homes.
